From a lab in Florida to the sidelines of history

Everyone knows Gatorade. It’s on every sideline. In every locker room. The drink athletes reach for when they’re pushing their limits. But how many people know where it actually came from? The story behind the bottle is one of the greatest origin stories in sports. And most people had never heard it.

The insight was about legacy. Gatorade wasn’t invented by a marketing team. It was created in 1965 by researchers at the University of Florida trying to figure out why their football players kept wilting in the heat. What started in a university lab became a revolution. And from there, Gatorade has been part of some of the most iconic moments in sports history. That story deserved to be told.

I helped craft “The Legend Continues.” The campaign traced Gatorade’s journey from that first batch in Gainesville to the championship celebrations and comeback victories it’s fueled ever since. Decades of athletes. Decades of sweat. Decades of moments where performance and hydration came together. The visuals were powerful. The storytelling was dynamic. And it reminded people that Gatorade isn’t just a drink. It’s part of the fabric of sports.

Over 4 million views in the first month. Fans sharing their own Gatorade memories. Conversations about how the brand has shaped athletic performance for nearly 60 years. The campaign honored where Gatorade came from while making clear that the legend is still being written.
